Essay Timeline II

I arrived in my new dwelling bedraggled and depressed. I tried to keep up relations with family and others I’d met during my homeless sojourn. However, these interactions turned out to be more harmful, than helpful. Here I determined to start anew.

I slowly started writing again at the local library (free internet service). I discovered blogs were a good way of seeing my sentiments and conceptualising my work. I started daily walks to and from the parks about town.

I’d had enough failed job searching—a requirement to gain access to temporary housing, gas, and utilities, while, food was granted courtesy of food stamps. The job search debacle of the last six and a half (6.5) years left me so hopeless that I was fooled into thinking volunteering was the way to get to know the community; thus, gain employment.

I heard they needed volunteers at the local visitor’s centre. I thought this was a good fit as memories of meeting people while traveling across the U. S., Canada and Europe, sprang to mind. It also held the opportunity to meet the local townsfolk.
